He then dressed up this outcome in sanctimony and hypocrisy. Boner, who along with all of the other Congressional Republicans over the last seven years has aided and abetted the Bush administration in its ongoing criminal and lawless behavior, said the following: "Members of Congress have a responsibility not only to obey the law and congressional rules, but also to defend the integrity of those laws and rules when they are violated. I remained committed to this case ... to uphold the belief that no one ... is above the law." Right. So Boner has no problem with the Bush assministration illegally tapping millions of calls under the pretense that FISA is a problem for them; but Boner gets his panties in a wad over his call being tapped.
Boner's newfound dedication to the rule of law and its applicability to the highest of the high brings to mind Churchill's comment that "we have already determined what you are. Now we are just haggling over the price." Since we now know what it takes to get Boner up (in arms) over illegal spying, all we have to do is buy off a few more cheap whores and we can get the rule of law restored to this country.
