Holy fucking shit

Never thought I'd be back doing this again.
I lifted this text from my brother:

The policies they pursue will cause generational damage to America, and the world. Global warming is a fact. Poor federal oversight of polluting industries is a fact. What do Republicans want? A climate change denier in charge of the EPA; or No EPA. Given our system of government, that could mean no real federal oversight of pollution or greenhouses gasses ever again. This is one of our primary challenges of this century, and we're just going to abrogate all responsibility. What are China, India and Russia going to do when we rescind our climate agreements?

Healthcare in America was broken, millions were uninsured and at risk of bankruptcy or premature death. What do Republicans want? Removal of ACA. Millions will go uninsured. There won't be another meaningful attempt at covering Americans without healthcare for a generation, at least, given what type of reception the completely milquetoast ACA got. The Supreme Court. Republicans broke historic norms here and refused to seat Obama's candidate. They'll be rewarded for this in the short term, and we'll get someone as dumb as Thomas and as cruel as Scalia. Social justice issues will take a 3 decade step back, almost overnight. This person will be there for a generation. This precedent may break the court, as factions in the government stall nominations indefinitely.

A radicalized congress. With no check on Ryan and the house, they can push through their dream package of legislation. "Religious Liberty" laws, that institutionalize discrimination. Massive tax cuts to the wealthy that will raise our national debt, which will then be used in turn to raise our retirement age and cut medicare benefits. Naked class warfare. This is a fundamental break of the social contract that Americans have enjoyed since the great depression.

Republicans think BLM is a domestic terror group. They think police officers shouldn't be recorded. You think a Trump Justice Department will look at issues of systematic racism in policing or voter suppression? Communities of color are on their own. You can't compromise with people who live in their own reality. There is no "common ground". We can talk about why they believe what they do, but from a policy standpoint, IT DOES NOT MATTER. They must be opposed, on everything. This won't be W2: "The Wrath of Cheney." (Jesus, who thought we'd ever hope for that). It won't. It's worse. Much worse. The country will survive, but from a government functioning standpoint, it'll be a harsher, less forgiving, more racist, more environmentally irresponsible place, and we may never recover.
