Nobody ever likes the goody two shoes suckups that will do anything to please authority figures. Nerds, brains, samaritans, student councils and the like justifiably come under fire for their toadying obsequiesence.
It's different when you're in the military. As I know from my extensive service in the armed forces, which I completely completed honorably and was accounted for at all times, you must follow orders. You don't have choices. When the commander guy says jump, you say "How high, sir!" Well, now I'm the commander guy, and I said jump, and he did it. Us military guys know that's a good thing, so you civilian types have to just take it.
