Lawyers are popular targets for scorn. They are the face of a byzantine system seemingly defined by foibles and follies that no one wants to be part of and in which everyone resents having to pay for the privilege of being involved. Lawyers are the voice for and public persona of the least popular. Lawyers do dumb and sleazy things. Nevertheless, even the worst housekeeper takes out the trash once in a while.
